Adam Audette has been posting some great stuff lately. Check out his posts on link building fundamentals and internet marketing and the limitations of language.
Dan Durick posted about how the economy can affect search behavior. Look at the numerous sources and graphics included in his post. It adds a lot of depth and credibility to the piece, because it relies on third party data and is more work than a typical spammer is willing to do (though many low level linkbaits do source 3rd party stats as a strategy). Anytime you add in 3rd party data you become a guy speaking truth and teaching rather than the salesman. Just by glancing at that blog post and knowing what you already know about search and market research data you have a big advantage over 99% of your market.
Lee Dodd announced the "Biggest Webmaster Forum Contest Ever!" offering over $25,000 in prizes, and 5 chances to win a free 3 month trial of our SEO training program.

Hi Aaron,
cheers for that, I found the link building fundamentals post quite useful and have been wondering about the nofollow deal for a while.
I have a couple of questions that I'm not sure about if anyone could clear up that would be much appreciated!
thanks for that, I have a couple of questions:
- do you need to have the link in the actual comment box (i.e. this one that I'm writing in) or will it just be enough having it in the Website field?
- what is the deal with anchor text? To rank for the KW's you want do you need to link from this comment box using a A HREF tag and the keywords you want?
- Should you link to a specific page / post or just to your main page?
- does a link to a specific post still help your main site?
cheers!
Jack
Great article - definitely worth reading when there is 3rd party data to back it up.
Also it seems that so many people/websites are running these massive contests with great prizes. Definitely gives a ton of incentive!!
Thanks alot for the post and the links. The contest yawn..
@Jack your questions are pretty well explained in alot of posts; also on this site. If you really want to stay up to day; read all SEO -caugh- search marketing -cough- marketing on the web blog's out there.
A search for the term "link building" is another good way to retrieve your information.
I myself am a paying member of this site and it's really worth the money. I'm quite amazed to read all the stuff that's been posted. It's like the iphotostock of seo -caugh- search marketing -caugh- *insert mumbling here*..
Thanks for the kind words :)
Hi Aaron, don't want to be considered as link dropper but since you have covered other link bulding fundamentals, I thought of telling SEO Book Readers about my own Link Building list. :) http://www.nbridges.com/tips
Yes, I have put your 2006 link building list as a resource and inspiration for this one :)
