Justin: a question to Kayako
How does the integration with email work? I use a lot of rules to pre-filter stuff. I do not read every email. Some are newsletters and stuff, which are automatically filed away and then indexed by Google desktop where I can search for stuff and will find the content if needed.
That would translate for Kayako, that I would need the ability to create a lot of automated rules that files stuff away into the knowledge base, but in most cases already into specific categories, others into general categories and the rest into something like an unsorted folder to dump stuff that can not associated with something specific yet.
How does that work in Kayako? How is the advanced search and the filtering?
Google desktop does not allow you to filter by categories or tags, what is a little bit of a bummer, but at least is it able to handle the workload. Copernic and MS Desktop Search both choked on it and died :)
Next issue would be to get my 300+ RSS feed subscription integrated :)
Doesn't sound like much of a retreat if you're checking e-mail! ;)
So that's where my e-mail went. ;) Have a great Retreat in San Francisco!
Same here. Only different. I'm always drowning in emails. It seems that since email is free, people are more willing to email you multiple times about tiny issues, which get in the way of the real things you want to be working on.. Maybe charging per email might work =P
hi , would u like to have a look on my blog and give me some advises ??
Emails after 1 week vacation are scary. Especially if you have community driven sites.
This article about "no email" fridays cracks me up:
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=2939232&page=1
Solution, sort of:
GMail
GMail
Google Desktop Search (MS Desktop Search and Coppernic both died in the attempt to deal with my data volume hehe).
and I am using Outlook AND Outlook Express in addition to that... note: each of their Rule Managements kind of suck and a version that combines the features of both would be kind of okay.
p.s. claim you blog at bumpzee! :)

hi Aaron, if you're looking for some advice on great things to do in SF, email me. I spend the exhorbitant rent to live here, it's gotta be worth something!
Gradiva
I wanted to introduce my self to this community and say that I am blown away by the high quality content provided here.
I have been reading and testing SEO for the past 12 months and although I had seen references to this site, I never visted it until 2 days ago.
Considering the SEO tools and content out there, and there is a lot out there, I found that this site provides very solid NON commercial information for someone who is acutally interested in learning about SEO.
Very, innovative idea driven tools, opinions, and other data.
The emails, well, what can you do. Always plenty.
Thank for this service.
You should just try not being so popular :-)
You gave me some great advice a while back, via email, but I never thanked you properly for it. Please accept my belated thanks, um, retroactively.
Thanks Aaron!
Benchmarking is key. Pls quantify "sea of email".
your email is so popular just like you ,aha
Yesterday took you anyway just 10 Minutes to answer main.
It is great that you always find the time to answer our repetitive and mainly boring questions :-/
You must be having a busy day.
Aaron, i've been a huge fan of yours since 2000 when i first bought your book. I'm looking for info about google indexing flash, i recently purchased your book again and didn't find any info about it.
Can you help a girl out?
bon
Hi Aaron,
I send you an email about the Competition finder script not working and i would really appreciate your feedback on this.
I followed every instruction given but receive the following errors:
"
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/E/2/9/E293C/html/index.php on line 57
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/E/2/9/E293C/html/index.php on line 57

This tool looks very promising but i can't get it to work!
Have fun at the conference! :=)

I find the key to email management to be in something called Kayako... It's an email ticket system that guarantee's the user an immediate response... But more imporantly it has two other features that save so much time:
1) Saved Responses: Get the same question alot, use a template to reply
2) Knowledge Base: If you run all your emails through this, you can start building a knowledge base so that in theory, people can just look at the knowledge base instead of emailing you.
It also helps ALOT with the transition to getting other people to answer your email for you ;-).
