Frank Schilling's Seven Mile: My Favorite Domainer Blog

I could accurately be described as an amateur domainer wanting to know more of that market. My favorite blog on the domaining market is Frank Schilling's blog. There are so many good posts that it is hard to highlight any of them. He writes about a wide range of topics including the domains he didn't buy (and their prices), how relevant domain names affect PPC arbitrage, and his underlying philosophy on business.

I don't believe all the hype about generic domains. People are skewing stats and using "direct navigation" stats to bolster claims that these domains have high value. Trouble is, "direct navigation" includes bookmark traffic. Having said that, I do read and enjoy Frank's blog. I recently posted a couple of comments over there. His response to my comment on "Google's New CPA Experiment" cracked me up. Check it out.

Frank's post on the old NetworkSolutions system made me chuckle. We had the expired drop down to minutes. I picked up 30 domains one evening from a competitor who was kiting domains, but went to dinner at the wrong time. he hasn't spoken to me since.

You used to be able to control domains for months without being out of pocket a dime.

I just wish I had thought more out of the box back then when it came to domains. I would be retired by now.

Yes, I've been purposefully quiet about a lot of that stuff. Speaking with Vern firsthand a couple months back, I can see why everyone around Schilling loves the guy, myself included.
