Search Trends Are Right in Front of You

If you watch TV, the things you see people talking about are what many people are searching for. At Elite Retreat Kris Jones mentioned that he was looking at American Idol for easy ranking opportunities. Yahoo! Buzz posted 5 popular searches for each of the finalists.

And the searches on top of Zeitgeist are usually dominated by junk like american idol. With so much going on in the world it's amazing a ron jeremy search could be so popular for 2 weeks straight.

Another great way to get something out of watching TV - ideas for popular content.

Interesting. I've noticed via TagMuse (pulls data from Technorati) that many of the popular blog searches lately have been related to American Idol.

Well I stopped watching TV to spend more time online. Now it seems that I have to get back to this old-skool thing called 'TV'. ;)

Oh wonderful...! I watch the evening local and national news and that's generally about it, so I don't have a clue what's on much of anything else on TV. I've never watched an single show of "American Idol" or "The Simpsons."

I spend my "leisure" time working on my various web sites and blogs, building content in things that interest me, not trying to figure out what people are talking about or doing searches on.

Mike and Fitz, I have the same problem you do - I am so "productive" that I don't have much feel for the mass market.

Unfortunately, you have to explore the so-called real world and its so-called pursuits - lest you end-up with a so-called income stream ;)
