I am just about to buy your book, wish I had done it 9 months ago but I did not know it existed - moving in the wrong circles maybe!

I accept the premise that being a member of a Reciprocal Link Exchange club with other members using the same software (even one of the better ones, which this is) is a bad thing because in the end the big G is going to nail us!

Having said that I only came to this conclusion a short while ago, having done more reading.

What would you recommend with a site that has been built with the objective of providing good content (or at least good perspective). Started 6 months ago. Currently has about 320 RL links.

I plan to gracefully exit this RL club, but want to plan my best strategy to correct my mistake.

Your thoughts would be most welcome and I look forward to ordering the book early next week when I can put aside the time to read it well.

Buy the book now, get free advice later when you have the time to absorb the advice. But seriously, you may want to narrow your question down a bit. It's a little too general.

Just the word "link exchange" sucks major ass and is weak. I tried linkmarket once, didn't do sh*t but increase my level on un-naturals with an added negative result of litterboxing a fresh site in a comepetive gift market. Oh well...

Hi Nabil:

My understanding, prior to buying and reading Aaron's book (which I will move up in my reading list Daniel ;-) is that the best approach would be to research your key competitors links and then go after them.

In many cases this can be done simply by going to their linking partners web site and reviewing their linking requirements and following them. In others you will have to write a persuasive letter to their web master and try and exchange links.

I also believe that 3 way links (or even 4 way) is the approach to take and not direct Reciprocal Links as these can be traced too easily by the big G and others.

Finally you may want to avoid any sort of link exchange "club". Big G (when they are ready) will find it too easy to track members of such clubs, find their web sites and penalise them (maybe even ban them for good).

What makes you think that reciprocals in such a way hinders a site. If its targeted, organised and theme based its far from an annoyance for big G and the others. To be honest I`ve tried many sites with some kind of artificial (if thats the work you want to call it) linking but the thing is they are organised with a themey edge.

As long as you stay on that track there`s nothing google can do about it.

There is one mistake that really cans a site. Loads of opinions with no evidence to back up their wild claims.

My site has over 2500 targeted reciprocals and guess what in terms of each partner their structures are almost identical.

Yet its got a top slot in msn, yahoo and google
Amazing really the amount of fear mongering BS on line today.

If google canned sites for reciprocals and what not there would be chaos abound. I would certainly dump google in a second and favour yahoo and msn. of course thats where the BIG g will end up eventually as its way to big for its boots. And like all big empires they become unmanageble and lose their focus (have you noticed their results are just becoming worse..... oh hum

Sorry I did not make it clear in my last post that I was referring to RL Exchanges through artificial forums. (Which is where I entered this discussion).

I agree true RL should not be a problem, certainly in the short term, providing it is done correctly and not through a set up exchange forum. However, I also believe that it is too easy with direct RL for Big G or others to devalue their value if they choose to.

Glad to know your 2,500 are working for you, I will keep adding to mine too.

Your sentiments on big empires is reciprocated ;-)
