Data Collection

For each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes only the consumer's domain name and IP address (which is recorded only if they create an account). We do not collect e-mail address unless users create an account requesting to participate on our site.

We collect the e-mail addresses and IP addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail. If you leave your e-mail address in a comment or in your public profile on this site, others will be able to view it. If you enter your domain name in your public profile on this site then others will be able to view your website. If you comment on this site with the intent to lie or deceive people we may publicly disclose your name, addresss, IP address, or other information associated with your comments. So far we have only done this once - to a malicious user that created over a dozen user accounts, tried to shill for their own product, and bashed us.

The information we collect is used to improve the content of our Web page. User comments help us understand what our users want, and help make pages more complete. Personal information is not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes. We will never sell or rent your email address. If you fraud or spam us, we may publicly reveal that.

Our Tools and Your Data

We offer a number of free and paid SEO tools. We track aggregate usage of our tools for the purposes of troubleshooting technical issues and preventing abuse of our tools (from bots, scrapers, and so on). We also may monitor aggregate tool usage statistics for tracking conversions from free accounts to paid accounts.

Other examples of how our tools are used are:

SeoBook's Rank Checker is a self-hosted application for use as a Firefox plugin. We do not track the data you input into the Rank Checking plugin. Our SEO Toolbar & SEO for Firefox are also self-hosted applications that we do not track usage data on. During updates we may send users to an update page on our site to let them know of what changed, but outside of that we do not track the usage. Some of our data sources in the toolbar do require the page or site you are visiting in order to return page-specific or site-specific metrics for them.

SeoBook's Keyword Research tools is powered by Wordtracker and our Competitive Research tool is powered by SemRush. You can check the privacy policies of both companies from the links given.

The tools mentioned above also adhere to the disclosures mentioned above regarding the data we collect from the usage of our tools.

SeoBook does not look at the specific use of our tools, free or paid.

Cookies

With respect to cookies: We set cookies if you create and log into your user account, to help make your user account easier to use. We use conversion tracking cookies on inbound affiliate links and we use analytics programs like Google Analytics to track conversions and improve our site's utility for customers.

If you are subscribed to our mailing list you may unsubscribe via the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email sent to you from this site. If you are having issues with unsubscribing, and do not want to receive e-mail from us in the future, please let us know by sending us an e-mail with your username in it to the above address.
